do we need them or can we delete them?

They're not mine - but contain interesting ideas (I shortly looked at
flags and restinslager).
What about creating a foodsoft-archive repository for things we'd like
for history and reference?

Thy can all be deleted. If we want those features, we have to start
again, I guess. 'restinslager' is nice idea, but the code isn't worth to
be kept alive.
