Wiki languages

How do we manage multiple languages in the wiki? We could add a language prefix/suffix (for non-english) to page names, or use english only and host help pages somewhere else (e.g. as default wiki pages in foodsoft). (I'm thinking of "Doku", "Quickstart" and "Äpfel u. Birnen")

Github Wiki should be in english. For the user documentation we should think about something different. I can think of something like FAQ/Guides on a dedicated site. Maybe we can use GH Pages to do that...

Agree!
Perhaps even documentation may best be part of the sourcecode - it may change with the software itself (e.g. when the apple-pear calculation would be changed).

I also like the github pages idea. I would also setup the foodcoops.net domain to link to the github server [1].

As I understand, the pages are served from a branch within the foodsoft project (gh-pages). So we have both in one place.

Has anyone some experience with jekyll? This might be the best way to organize the new pages, as I would like to have a bit of a blog engine. (for news etc.) Are there any tips for a nice layout template we can use?

maybe we should spare the foodcoops.net for another purpose and use a subdomain of foodcoops for the user documentation.
i like the idea wvengen mentioned about a foodcoops directory of all the foodcoops using foodsoft. this directory can be complemented by other foodcoops not using foodsoft.
i don't think about a 'how to start your foodcoop' rather than a starting point to find a foodcoop next to you… that could be foodcoops.net


i don't have any experience with the gh-pages.

Cool! I think it would be useful to have a site for (potential)
developers as well as (potential) foodcoop users. I'm mostly interested
in the developers site, to make it inviting for new developers to join.

Do we want a wiki where users can add stuff? How would that work for
users of different foodcoops? Supposing they use exactly the same
software, that would work. Perhaps some 'core' documentation belongs to
the source code, and can be hosted by foodsoft itself?

I've started something very small at
https://github.com/foodcoops/foodsoft/wiki/Users . When selecting
foodcoop software, I was looking for what software was used where. Added
to your point of finding one close by (though perhaps other sites like
http://coops.bombina.net/ would be a better place).
